Export and Save Limitations of Large Canvas

Large Canvas Size, the Points for use

Since Adobe Illustrator 2020 (24.2), you can create your document on a Large Canvas. Ths means that the maximum size per side has become 10 times larger which means 57795.5833 mm = 2270 inches. ( approximately 60 meters ). You can now express your images in actual size if you wish. Here, let us introduce some useful points for applying the function.

What is Large Canvas ?

When you create a new document at AI, if any of width or height exceeds 227 inches, it will become a Large Canvas.
If it shows in "mm" :
5780mm or more -> Large Canvas
5779mm or less -> Normal Canvas

However, you might not even notice since there will be no particular alart.

Restrictions of export formats

Unfortunately, AI shall supports only following export formats :

• PDF
• PNG
• JPEG
• PS
• TIFF
• SVG

Please note that that DXF is not supported as an expot format.

Exporting (saving) by EXDXF-Pro.

The above restrictions will also apply to DXF export by EXDXF-Pro. When you export a DXF file, you have to work with a document size of 5779 mm or smaller. Please kindly be reminded that this is not about an artboad size but a Document Size.
