What is DXF?
DXF (“Drawing Exchange Format” or “Drawing Interchange Format”) is a vector CAD file format originally developed by Autodesk. It is widely used for sharing data between CAD programs, including drawing and cutting operations. While AutoCAD’s native format is DWG, DXF offers higher compatibility across software. Adobe Illustrator natively supports DXF import/export, but some DXF types may not convert correctly, causing lines or shapes to appear incorrectly.
